The larger brown bits look like dead scale to me.

Do you notice if the leaf is sticky at all? I'm afraid that's all the suggestions that I can make at the moment.

Hi Filb,

the leaf is not sticky..but the larger brown seems to be harder to remove by brush..need to use something more appropriate tools (toothbrush - medium hard) . and once remove it will leave some 'whitish'? at the leaf. the longer the brown thingy attached will make the leaf lost is colour (i think they feed on the leaf?)..

what i do now is isolated the infected plants from others...

thanks guys for any tips that might cure this 'infection'. and im willing to try any suggestion..

PS - pls see the 3rd pics..they occupied the leaf and other lower part of the plants

It looks like scale to me. What I do is take a few cotton balls and soak in isopropyl alcohol, and rub them off with that. I do that every week or so until I stop seeing them.

scale is major bad and spreads like wildfire....i would get out the heavy artillary and fire off some systemic insecticide right away....that is a bad infestation, and has likely hit some of your other plants....check them all carefully, but spray with the systemic anyway...gl

Welcome to the forum.I have not had this problem arise(knock on wood) but if it is scale they will have a hard shell on them. My research has showed that this needs to be gently rubbed off then apply treatment. I can't be positive, my Orchid has not gotten this but hang in there, your in the best forum for help Good luck
