Vandas look like palm trees

Can anything be done when vandas start losing their bottom leaves and they start to look like palm trees? I had a horrific scale problem and since then lost a lot of leaves of my vandas and the roots are not that great. Just started to treat them by soaking in superthrive and water. Any other suggestions?

you can bundle sphagnum moss around the upper part of the bare stem, wet it down first, then fasten a plastic baggie around it to hold in the moisture, fasten it with rubber bands at the top and bottom....keep it moist for a few months, and you shoudl see some roots forming....you can then cut the stem below the baggie and voila, new plant....gl....oh btw, the stem and roots you cut off can also throw an offshoot and give you another plant too!

I had one the leaves yellowed and started dropping off on that was given to me. It was doing this to its original owner also. I learned to late that the roots had been dieing off and it was progressing up the stalk for lack of a better word (part leaves grow on on Vandas). There was another thread very informative where this also was happening to another member and if not caught in time the plant dies.... Like mine did as well. I will try and go through my threads I'm suscribed through to get the title of the thread for you to pull up.

It depend on the type of vanda you have. A picture would be very nice.
