Hi & Welcome to the forum.

First of all, are you sure you have a phal? I ask this because phals do not have rhizomes. Some black spots are no cause for concern but others are. Can you please post a picture of your plant and if possible the spot? This will help us know what kind of orchid you have and whether or not the spot is a concern.

pour a cup of hyrdrogen peroxide (the kind you get from the drugstore/grocery) over it, stat. then get some sort of sterile blade (sterile razor is good) and just cut the black part out. more H2O3 over the wound, and when it's dry, dust it with cinnamon.

or do whatever kevin tells you.

You will no doubt lose the leaf, but you may still be able to save the plant if you jump on this quickly.

Base of leaf wash with hydrogen peroxide and sprinkle cinnamon powder on the wounded leaf.It should save the plant from further leaf loss.

You've already gotten some great advice. Dousing in H2O2 is a great remedy for fungal/bacterial infections- particularly crown rot. Another alternative is brown Listerine, which you can pour through the entire pot if you get any rot in your roots.
It's not that big of a deal if the leaf comes off- if it yellows and shrivels, leave it. The plant takes energy from it's oldest leaves- and Phals commonly lose a leaf or two a year as part of the aging process.

Pack the wound, whether you cut it out or not, with cinnamon. For extra "sticking" power, you can mix the cinnamon with a little Elmer's Glue.
Be sure that there is no soggy medium pressed up against the crown, or above the base of the plant. That will help prevent infections like this from progressing too fast.

Me too. Even if they're in bloom, any new phal that's in moss get's repotted.

However, for my minis that are in 2" or smaller pots, I do use sphag mixed with fine bark. Otherwise I just can't keep the roots happy in my dry environment.
