"The best stuff ever" on scale

Hello everyone....I think I have begun to find scales on a couple of my plants....I know it has been addressed several times on several threads. I mixed up a batch of "the best stuff ever" and sprayed the H E double hockey sticks out of them....my question is....how often can this stuff be applied without damaging the plants and will this be enough????? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Eddy

I've sprayed several times a day on phals. (mealies) As long as the plant can dry before nightfall it should be OK... not that I'm an expert. Oh, and I was carefull about roots. Cinnamon can dry them.

Hi Edgy,
I use brookin's recipe but haven't had a case of scale yet just had mealies on a Paph once. I did add 15 drops of 70 percent rubbing alcohol to a batch of that recipe and that also didn't harm the plants. I haven't had scale to try it yet but maybe if you PM the member that created that thread she can answer in her experience...... If someone doesn't answer in your thread ....
Good luck
Emmaye

Thanks Emmaye.....I'm going to keep applying for a few weeks and keep a close eye on them....If it gets worse, may have to do something drastic...right now it's not bad. Thanks for the response. Any other advice would be much appreciated.

I recently found scale and I used a q-tip dipped in alcohol to remove the hard ones attached to the plant. But I sprayed with a Bayers product after that.

You MUST also soak what ever pesticide you use into the potting mix to alleviate any eggs or juveniles that hatch before they reach the surface.

I totally agree!! I will repot a plant that has more than, say, 15 scale. I dump the whole thing, pot and all, wash the plant by hand, spray the heck out of roots and leaves with something similiar to 'TBSE' and repot in new media. It might be excessive but I have never had scale get out of hand in my 300+ plants.
