what are these things?

in one of my phals in the pot there are tiny little rock things that are gray, but they are not rocks, i crushed one and i think some kind of liquid was inside and some are empty, there also seems to be a lot of them in the pot. are they pest eggs or something?

are they spherical? it sounds like you're describing granular timed release fertilizer. put

nutricote
osmocote

into your favorite search engine and you'll find them; the empty shells are ones that have leached out all their fertilizer. some folks use these on their cattleyas (and i use them on my regular plants).

What type of mix do you use? Miracle Gro has the balls of slow release fertilizer.

Sounds like you are decsribing fertilizer granulets.
Most growers use liquid fertilizers, but some also use these granulets

you know, i think dynamite (another timed release granular fert) is irregularly shaped--and grey or green.

at any rate, no, i don't think it's bugs.

Janet yes Dynamite/Nutricote could be called pebble shaped. And I can think of at least two major commercial growers in the US that use it.
