Hard to say without seeing it but these pitted patches are usually fungal.

Heres a pic. Its grown in s/h in a south window. This orchid took to s.h the best with no noticable set back when I took it out of bark.

Are both of those growths new? If they are, is it possible they were getting a bit too much light?

The pics aren't crisp so it's hard to be exactly sure here but it kind of looks like one of my Laelia. I had the plant a bit too close the the T5's this past winter and the new growth...being so tender...got scorched. It started out as a weird sunken patch...not as much as what I see on your leaves...but certainly similar. If those leaves are new and tender...the sun coming through the windows hitting the tops of those tender leaves...maybe it was too much. ?? This is a huge guess on my part.

I was going to say something similar (as in sunburn). Not sure though.

It looks a bit like that thing...I think it's fungal, that they call "rusty spot" or something like that. I'd treat with a good fungicide, and increase air flow around the plant. I'd also check for mites just to be on the safe side.

Wouldn't fungal or bacterial also attack the older growths?

I have very limited personal experience w/disease issues affecting my houseplants but I've found w/my landscaping plants anything bacterial or fungal tends to affect the older growth as well as the new growths. I don't know if that would transfer to orchids or not.
