Check out mites on the AOS website. Scroll down three PP to read "characteristic blanching and silvery appearance of the leaf"

AOS | Mites

This gives a picture of a leaf damaged by mites, does it look like what you have?

Yes, I see your point. I actually thought the pictures were misleading because I don't think the webs have to be there. The silvery stippling, tho, webs or not, I think that's the giveaway.

A good wash in soapy water, and spray with a miticide should do it. Or whatever the articles say to do. (But soapy water is always a good start

My first guess was spider mites as well. If they were outside, the rain could have kept any webbing down. Good luck!

There are multiple types of spider mites and one doesn't make webs. I think it is the Phalaenopsis spider mite?

So I discovered something interesting....only my dends have this problem....everything else (catts, phals, epi's, cyms) all look good.

A local grower, Bill Fender, stopped growing Dens because he says they always get mites.

Be sure to treat the underside of the leaves also because that's where they lurk.

It looks like mites to me as well. Interesting....maybe Dens are extra tasty?

doodlekitty, I thought of you today and this thread, I was watering one of my phals and it looks almost like the one in your picture. It is the only one that is planted in moss. Is yours planted in moss? It may be the reason and a answer for both of us. LOL My moss isn't brand new moss either.

Hcm, yes newcomers are all warmly welcomed. Seems like your post is hidden away here and no one noticed.

I hope you will start a new thread about your newbie status, and you'll see the following from lots of different posters

Hi Orchidlover....wow, you thought of me today?? I wish I was brought to mind over something more interesting than "mites". LOL.

I do not have my chids in moss.....and so far I only have the little critters on the dends. Not for long though!!! I've declared battle on those nasty things and I plan to win!!!!
