little gray spheres

Hi everyone

I was just repotting a brassia and a sharry baby bought from a nursery when iInoticed that both rootballs had this basically little round gray balls around the roots. They look much like those styrofoam particles people put in their soil mixes, but they are gray and pearly. Of course, like a curious boy I am, I squeezed them and liquid came out. I'm wondering if they are snail eggs or something. I did see a tiny snail in my sharry baby and there is when I panicked.

Please any help, advice, or info will be much appreciated,
thanks

manuel
