Tips on Cymb drying out?

I noticed on most of my Cybms, the tips of the leaves are starting to dry out. These are grown under the green shade cloth so no idea what % shade cloth it is. Its only receiving rainwater once every 2 days or so. Most have spikes at the moment.

Regards
Mango

Hi Mango.
Are the effected leaves from older back bulbs from last year or older.
If so the top one could be normal die back as the leaves age.

if not sometimes it is an indication of excessive salt build up from over fertilising!

Bottom one with the black spots worries me as it looks fungal, I would give the whole plants a good spray with a fungicide . Any one of the sprays already made up for black spot on Roses are ok.
Best of luck with the flower spikes
Cheerio
Ron

Is your Cym. in a pot? Looks like it could be leaf burn from fertilizer built up. Cyms. need to be flushed with plain water every so often to prevent tip burn. Also the black spots are probably a fungal infection. I cut off the tip when this happens. The plant will do fine though.
Cyms can stand high light but will burn from too much direct afternoon sun. Usually the middle part of the leaves burn in that circumstance.
Try flushing and see if that helps.

I have a lot of brown tips and i know I don't fertilize too much, although this is certainly one reason why this can happen. I flush like crazy every watering with a garden hose so salts can't build up.
Very low humidity can cause it as well and that seems to be my problem since I grow mine outdoors all year. Other than clustering them together and wetting the patio below them to try to raise the humidity there isn't much I can do about it. (easily, that is)
