systemic pesticides

Many of us grow our orchids outside on decks and patios during the spring and summer. Is there a systemic pesticide that can be used as a preventitive. I have heard the Bayer advanced tree and shrub, lmidacloprid, works well. Has anyone used this product on orchids successfully and at what dosage?

I've successfully used Bayer Rose and Flower Systemic in a ready to use spray bottle - seems to work well and is effective. mike
