Black spots on my phal-type den.....

I have a phal type den that has been growing well..... but the older growths have some black areas/spots on the leaves and canes. it has two brand new canes that have no black areas on them..... but are beautiful bright glossy green. i just want to know if this phal is sick.... or if it is just an anomaly that won't hurt anything? i will post pics later..... i took them but i need to upload them in the computer later on. i know its hard to comment without pictures....

Melissa, hard to say for sure without pictures.

Are these black "areas" growing?

okay so here are some pics of my plant in question..... and they seem to not be growing. i have been watching for awhile, and if they are growing it is very very slowly. neither of the new canes have any black spots on them.

normal fungus, just water- not spray . systemic fungicides . spray contact fungicides . The old cane will not change spot but the young cane will be protected from the fungus infection. Remove fungus infected leaves.

These spots are not a virus. They're some type of harmless fungus.

You might consider a systemic fungicide like Funginex.
