uhh ohh Phal problem

My mom called, said one of her Phals when she went to water her Phal. all the leaves fell off at the same time. she said they didnt seem wrinkly. But she threw them away so I couldnt go over to look to see what happened. They've rebloomed for her before. Not sure what happened. Any hints to check for when I go to look at her others to make sure they're ok?

Sounds like a massive case of rot in the center of the plant. Look for black around the main stem.

I'll second the diagnosis - crown rot (find out if there was water/moisture in the crown as the evening/temps dipped).

I will agree, I lost a Phal to crown rot, while losing only one leaf the plant was dead.

It may also be sunburn. I saw a phal that had a sunburned laves that lost all it's leaves that were burnt, and began putting out new ones quickly.

At this time of the year, agree it may be crown rot. If you go and check the other plants, make sure the plants are not sitting in water, or in too tightly packed moss media.

Most common cause for leaves suddenly dropping of is cold wet potting mix, especially if temps drop below 50F for long periods in winter.
