Katydid problem?

I've been fortunate enough for years now to not have issues with bugs actually eating my vandas... However the last few weeks I've noticed some 'munching' evidence on just the flowers and unopened buds. Finally found the culprit.... From my google searches it seems to be a katydid... I sprayed the vandas all down the Seven, but need to go buy more for another treatment. Has anyone else had this little annoyance and when did you kill them with? I don't get on here often but I'm pretty sure I've seen other folks use Seven to treat their orchids for bugs.
If I've misidentified this critter, please let me know

Just grow a cinnamon tree nearby. The bugs will leave the orchids alone and enjoy the cinnamon tree's leaves instead. :|
We had a big toad move in and it seems as if the problem disappeared. If the Sevin isn't working, try the one for fruit trees. Malathion is another option. Just be certain to use all listed precautions.

Thanks Leafmite for the quick response... I do have malathion but I've left it sitting outside (in the sun) for a really long time, because I got it but was afraid it would damage the plants because it was so strong, is it a systemic too? I'll keep on with the seven but if that doesn't work I'll get a new bottle of the malathion and give it a try.
I never know what pesticides I can use on orchids in fear of killing or damaging them

I don't use any pesticides on my orchids and I use only granular systemic on my houseplants. We have fruit trees and use malathion on those (along with fungicide). When we have Japanese beetles (haven't had many the past few years), Sevin is amazing but it does seem to cause fruit drop. Hopefully others will weigh in, here.
