I found a bug :(

I repotted one of my phals into a S/H set up a couple of months ago. I recently moved, and I was in the process of setting up all my orchids. I decided to check on this orchid to see how it was adapting to S/H.

The old roots had died and were starting to decompose (there were multiple new roots coming in, so I wasn't alarmed as old roots dying when switching over to S/H is normal). I was in the process of cutting the old dead roots off when I saw a little white bug crawl very quickly in and out.

I have searched on here and googled the common things. It is not:

-springtails
-spider mites
-mealy bugs
-gnats
-thrips

It is:
-very quick
-gray/white/silver
-Extremely small. The size of a grain of sand. I wouldn't have been able to see it if it didn't move.

I cannot get a picture of it, and I only saw one (not to say there aren't others)

The plant itself appears healthy. The leaves aren't discolored at all and there is new root growth.

Should I be worried about this, or are these bugs harmless and just eating on the dead/decaying roots?

Nevermind, I took another look at it and it's an oblong critter and it (may) have wings, but I didn't see it fly. So it's not a mite, and I think it may be a gnat of some sort.
