hello

i have an orchid with a horrible looking mushy spot on one of its leaves , can anyone tell me what it might be, i have a picture but i cant post it just yet because im new here.

Hello, MangaOrchid21, and welcome. You will be able to post pictures after you have 5 posts. You can get there quickly if you just make 5 random posts (Hello--Nice--Great...) . A picture will help diagnose any problem.

However, "mushy" in general is bad news. Isolate the plant quickly, and consider cutting the mushy part off with a razor blade, then apply powdered cinnamon.

Thank you Ma` am!

i was able in my desperation to find a previous post with pictures to be sure, it is in fact Erwinia or brown rot as it was described in that post, i have taken off the leaf and sealed with cinnamon powder.

It should be okay, now. Sometimes, as an extra caution, I wipe down the rest of the leaves with a cotton ball soaked in Isopropyl alcohol to disinfect the orchid.
