feedback on loupes
I'm interested in buying a loupe, possibly 40x strength to examine for pests and diseases. From reading re: mites this is the magnifying power that's needed. I'd like to hear from others if you like the loupes, what strength and brand you have, etc. Looking forward to hearing from you.

I think the loupe I have is only 10x, years ago I had one that was 20x. Never tried ID on mites, though.

I see that Sunlight Supply has an interesting one with a built-in LED light, but I don't know anything more about the company: Grower's Edge Lighted Magnifier Loupe - 40x | Sunlight Supply, Inc. - Indoor Gardening Supplies, Grow Lights, Hydroponics, and Lighting

I have one, love it!
Dual lens 30x/60x Magnifier with LED Illumination...was only $11.95 :)

Joyce............do you remember where you purchased it from?

Catt Mandu,

This company is very reputable. I've bought some fluorescent light fixtures from them...I love their products. Hopefully, will get more feedback from other geeks. Thanks....went shopping on their site once you sent it.

I use different ones, since I am in the printing/graphics industry. Not sure the actual magnification, but they are used for checking registration for 300 line screen dot patterns. That's 300 dots per inch. Very tiny You can get these from printing supply stores, Kelly Paper and others. This would be a PARAGON lupe, made by Harold Pitman, Co.
Another that I use all the time, is what they call a "linen tester". It's a fold up magnifier, that when open, it sits flat on a surface and it's in perfect focus. They are rather inexpensive, but not cheap. Probably under 20 bucks at Kelly Paper. You can definitely see the tiniest mites with these.
Kelly paper is a printer's supply store for papers and other things, but is also open to the public. I'm sure they have a web Online store as well

Thank you, everyone! Curiousity is sending me to Google to search for a linen tester. :woot:
