ANTS!!! In my spiking Cymdidium

It's in a MASSIVE 12" pot, I've had it outside all season, and I noticed a few ants around the bottom of the pot.... they decided to colonize IN the pot!!!

It's spiking, so I really don't want to have to up root it... so my plan is to soak the medium with something; most likely Sevin spray...

Is Sevin safe to use on orchids? It doesn't say, and I really want to get them under control before I bring it in for the cold season. PLEASE let me know soon

I would drown them in water. Place plant in a 5 gal container from HD or something then fill it to just above the rim of the pot and enjoy the show. It's worked for me. What I would look for is why the ants took refuge in your pot. Are they protecting something else much worse than ants? Sevin is a great product but that to me is heavy artillery just for ants. Good luck.

I thought about that, however, flooding the pot hasn't been helping and I don't want to go buy a 5 gal bucket

I use sevin powder on my orchids to control ants. I've also used orthene powder and as a soak to rid pots of ants.

Thanks FLBob, I just wanted to be sure it was safe, I would hate to kill the plant to kill the ants
