Live Oak for Mounting

I am having a Live Oak trimmed tomorrow
here in Florida. Can anyone tell me if I can save
some choice pieces for mounting
What would I have to do with it to prep it
Thank you for any advice.
Terry

I have mounted several plants on oak with all good results. The only downside I can find with it is it is heavy.
as far as prep all i have done is clean it well and mount away, have done on both green and dried peices with no noticeable difference.
Good luck

Hmmm. great question. I've got oak left and right. Never thought of it as a mount.

I've never mounted on oak but I do use oak leaves in paph mix. Oak is a pretty hard wood it should hold up pretty good i'd think.... I see a couple of members have mounted on oak. I'd give it a try.

+1 for Oak. Good stuff, both alive and cut.

Never thought about Oak , always thought it would rot fast, There is a lot of it around here, I will try it on my next mount.
