Burr Nelly Isler 'Swiss Beauty' Mounted on Shell

I did an unusual mount on a shell because I didnt have anymore wood .
But I am hoping that my Burr Nelly does good since it doesnt like being in a pot.
Do you think it will do good.
I heard that shells have calcium and it will absorb it.
I also fertilize it and has new growth emerging.

Gee...that is a unique idea. I think the only thing may be that the roots can't cling to the smooth sell. One good thing is abalone comes with ready made drainage holes. Keep us updated on how it works out for you.

Hummm I never thought of the roots not sticking to the shell. Hummmmmm I think I am just going to leave it alone and see what happens. If I notice that it doesnt seem to be doing any good I will repot it in a pot.

I also have two phalaenopsis that I mounted on a piece of wood.
It is alot easier to take care of since I dont over water and kill them.
I also have 3 in pots ( phals) but those seem to be doing fine.
