Thumbs up My First Mount

Here it is! My very first mounted orchid. How does it look? Honest opinions here please! I hope I didn't flub it too bad. I did it with the the hybrid project Encyclia (the name that's waaay too long to type. LOL )

very nice, I like it a lot! You did a great job.

I'm still too nervous to try it.

You did a super job Jenny. That mount really shows off the beautiful shape of that Encyclia.

To one untrained mounter (me - have not tried it yet) I'd say it looks fabulous. One of these days you guys are going to get me to try one of these!

Hi Jenny I think that looks great. I'm still trying to work up the courage to get something mounted on that piece of driftwood I found a few weeks back. I think I have to learn more about the process first.

Nice job on the mount!

I, too, have yet to try mounting. I have some cork bark and tree fern plaques, but have been hesitant... Anyway, I have a couple orchids that need to be mounted. I just haven't decided which media to use.

It looks great!!! I mentioned in the other thread that the Enc. seems suited for a mount since the newer large pseudobulb is up higher than the smaller old bulb, making it a challenge to pot the conventional way. I think you did a great job!

I used grapewood. Jerry said the stuff lasts forever (something like 10 years or so?) and doesn't break down compared to other mounting materials. I want something that lasts now....

I soaked the wood all stinking day in Physan solution mix. (Read the thread about mold growing on grapewood, so this is my ounce of prevention for that pound of cure!
