Oncidium mounted

This is some Oncidium hybrid which I got few days ago. All roots were completely dead so I have decided to mount it! I used palm bark. i don't know too much about that material but I know that it holds water well... Plant have the new growth so I hope that it will make new roots and start to attach for the wood. Also, this onc have 3 mature bulbs.

Is there anyone who knows whether is palm bark good for mounting?

The palm bark will not harm the orchid but it will rot quickly and probably fall apart in less than 2 years.

Try to stay wilth very hard woods like grapevine, oak and cypress where you can expect 8-15 years.

Pine driftwood also does not last very long.

I personally wouldnt mount a rootless orchid, its going to stress the plant more.

My path would be to pot it in spag moss and keep it moist that way, the plant will have a better chance of getting water this way.

I think you will be OK mounting this. You might want to use a gallon baggie to slip this into until the roots start, but leave it wide open at the top. You want to raise the humidity a bit, but you also want that mount to not stay too wet continuously.

You know... I think that this plant have high chances to survive because it have 3 mature bulbs which serve like energy storages and one new growth.

I've read somewhere tat oak tree isn't good for mounting because it contains a lot of salts (tanin) ... Is this true?
