| Prisana, your pics show that the mounting is paying off and the plant looks healthy. I have just gone the other way, dismounting a Den. laevifolium and potting it up in coir as the plant was doing very little mounted. Hope I get the same good feelings as you have. Bill. |

| ooooh, very nice prisana. What is meant by "bud?" I'm new to orchid lingo and my first thought was, "flower"......????? Does this mean a new stalk or something else? Be kind and remember our motto, "no such thing as a stupid question" |

| Thank you, thank you...you guys are too kind. Kevin- I'm thinking about mounting all my dens on the trees later, they are all top-heavy and gets knocked over plenty enough times for me to start to seriously consider that.. Sandra- bud in this case is a bud that grows out of the base of the rhisomes, from a bud eye, it's a new growth. First they grow kind of pararel to the medium, that becomes a rhisome as the plant grows upward. ( I'm really convinced that that's why they grow pararell in the beginning ) but that's another thread. Ellen- I soak it for at least half an hour every morning.. BillC- I'm sure you'll have no problem doing that..I was dreading it at first but it turned out pretty good..I think this only happens once |

| Those look great Fred.

They take on the form of little birds, of lizards, of insects, a man, a woman, sometimes like a clown who excites our laughter. They represent the image of a lazy tortoise, a melancholy toad, an agile, ever-chattering monkey. Nature has formed orchid flowers in such a way that, unless they make us laugh, they surely excite our greatest admiration." Jacob Breynius |

| Fred, I think you have incorrectly named one of your Dens. In the first post, the 7th one down looks a lot like a Dockrilla liguiformis. The image has been taken a bit too wide an angle to fully see it in detail. Just wondering.
