Mounting using glue?

In mounting Tillandsias on wood, we often use E-6000 glue of something similar to attach. Can glue be used with orchids in a similar way? Anyone ever try it?

Hmmm...that is a thought, but I think the difference is in the root system...tillys don't really grow them like orchids do...the tillys take into their cups, where orchids take in more through the roots. The growing pattern is different also, not sure what you would glue on an orchid?
If you do try it bumpman, please post pics and let us know what's going on with that

Yes you can mount an orchid with glue as long as you use the glue in an area where no roots would appear. I wouldn't know how to mount a Phal with glue but Catts can be mounted using glue on the rhizome.

I've used gorilla glue before. Works just fine.

Glue is fine - I've used it for mounting Sarcs before.
I would probably avoid hot-glue though.

Are we talking something like a CA glue? Better known as Super Glue?

Mostly waterproof "paste" glues, as mentioned E-6000, Gorilla Glue, silicon glue, etc.

Yes, pretty much any solvent-based glue is fine although ones that don't dissolve in water will last longer. I have used super glue and builders adhesive without any problems. Usually though I just tie things to mounts because it's quicker than trying to find a viable tube of glue

By hot-glue I mean the melted plastic stuff you apply with a special heated gun. It comes out like hot wax so it would probably damage the plants at that temperature.
