A few mounted Phalaenopsis(not in bloom)

Just wanted to share some of my mounted Phalaenopsis, I really enjoy mounting orchids and has become one of my favorite methods for growing orchids. At first I never thought I could find the time to care for them; but funny how time can be found, though anymore and I may be stretching, and these are just a few of my phals.

The first 2 Phal. Tetraspis & Intermedia I grow them indoors on the windowsill in diret sunlight yes they get full sun between 2 - sunset all summer and loved it! They were both purchased as seedlings, the Intermedia I neglected last winter and remounted it in spring. The Intermedia also a seedling a got back around last March...

The rest are Noids, one of which is one I got for my mom as a gift last year, it almost died so I mounted it to save it, now it has lots of great roots and 2 basal kieki's!!!

They sure look happy!

I recently mounted a Phal. mannii x philippinensis -- the first time I've mounted a phal -- and it seems to like its new situation. It's growing a nice new leaf, but hasn't bloomed yet. The roots were so fat I had to use strips of nylon (from pantyhose) to mount it, I just couldn't get the fishing line snug enough to do the trick!

They look great -k- !
Making me think about a few I got from a vendor with poor roots I'm thinking maybe I should mount them and see how they do. This thread is inspiring
Thank you -K-

Wow, I am so impressed! They look beautiful. I love how many leaves the one in the 7th pic has.
When you say that you have two indoors, do you mean in your house? If so, what do you have them hanging on, and what do you do to manage water dripping on the floor?

Actually I grow all my mounts indoors (my house), just natural sunlight... I think there are 9 or 10 leaves on that one... Water dripping can present a problem, but I water them in the sink and hang them on a drying rack for a few minutes allowing excess water to drip back into the sink before placing them back in location. I also have a few mud rugs under them to catch any residual drops of water...

I've experimented with other methods of catching the dripping water, some effective others not so much... Once semi succesful method is to adhere a plastc tray under the mount for excess water, I line the inside of the tray with some small stones, the water evaporates by the end of day... just isn't very eye appealing which is why I say Semi... but it does work...

They all look great! I have increased the number of mounted plants triplefold this summer(thanks to you for some of them) and also love how well they respond to being mounted. I thought last winter it was a pain to water them everyday, but now with probably 40 mounted plants, it's going to be an even more daunting task this winter. And as you said, somehow we find that extra time to do it.lol

Great looking mounts K. How often do you have to water?

In the summer once or twice a day, in the winter maybe once every 2 days or so does the trick.

Those mounts are beautiful. Where do you find/purchase them?

Very nice -K-, great job mounting your chids!
I am mounting few myself even here in Colorado. Everything started with Oerstedella centradenia after I looked at Kats plant being mounted.
I use Cotton wood bark.
It's another kind of art, and some mounts just look so natural and therefore so beautiful. I like all of yours.
Maybe I'll post some of mine when I have more time.......
