New and beautiful mounts

Thanks to fellow orchid geek -K- for my new mounts. This past week I got 3 mounts from him and they were just beautiful. The only problem I had was which of my orchids were going to be the happy recipients to these mounts. Keith, hopefully you won't mind, but I did divide one of them as I thought I could better utilize the one with the hole better divided. So here are the first two of what now has turned into 4 mounts. This is the mount I divided, the first one I mounted one of my Laelia anceps, it was growing out of it's pot, had a couple new leads starting so was a good choice. The second half of the mount went to one of my C. loddiglossa v. coeruela x C. leopoldii v. coerulea. The way the plant was presented fit perfectly into the opening in the mount. This one could have sat nicely on a table, but I chose to hang it. Haven't decide which orchids will find homes on the other 2 mounts, but here are pictures of the mounts. Thank you Keith for the mounts, I love them and hopefully my orchids will love them also! What is really nice is all the crevices and nooks and crannies for roots to get into, it's great!

They are really beautiful pieces. I just ordered two from him as well, and I'm really looking forward to receiving them and seeing what I can do.

Absolutely lovely. I have been having fun mounting a few lately too. Once I get my camera fixed I will share pics as well.

Very interesting wood and really nice mounting jobs as well.

Do you know what kind of wood that is

-K- uses grapewood for his mounts. It has so much character.

Thought I'd post this pic of a small piece of grapewood I found locally at a small nursery. I put the little bromilead on there just until I found a likely 'chid candidate. The bromilead must like the location, because in just under 2 weeks its put out what looks to be a tiny bloom spike!

If they're anything like mine, they stick to them like glue!

When I'm ready to try my hand at mounting I hope I can find pieces that look that good I think your little ones will love their new digs

-K- is a fellow geek. If you read through the post, he is here. He is also in your geographic area. I'm sure if you pm'd him, he can answer any questions you may have.
