Ben,
I think you can Mount any orchid. However, paphiopedilums need to have their roots wet all the time. In nature they grow with their roots near the streams and under the leaves or various debris on the ground.
It's your orchid, but I would never mount one. I would recommend reading on their growing requirements. The AOS website is very helpfull.

I agree. If you're in the right environment, you could, but I think they're happier in some sort of medium.

I haven't tried with a paph but i somewhat mounted a phrag. It did well until the fountain broke down (actually 2 of them), i repotted it to a pot then. If i will find a more reliable fountain i'll try again.

As others have pointed out, Paphs are not epiphytes. They are terrestrials which grow in pockets of leaf litter in rocky cliffs or outcroppings or in loose leaf-liter forest floors. As such they're not well suited for mounting. They respond best when pot grown.
