were to find mounts

If you pass by a construction site were they have pulled up a lot of the trees and pilled them up to haul off you can get verry lucky. Some of the roots look like a work of art themselves. This is were all of mine have come from. just don't forget to ask permission.

That is a good idea. Do you let it age some first before using it?
I usually rummage around the water front or at our wooded property for neat pieces of wood.

sometime tree bark is a great stuff to grap. Dont forget the brick for the shelves. You need sand to improve the drainage below the shelves. U need rope to tie anything , plant, shade cloth, acting as extra hanging space.
U need plastic netting / fruit basket to put below the plant so that water drain away from the pot.
U need bamboo for skewer method of watering, prop up plant...
U need metal bar or cloth hanger to make hanging wire
U need wood to make vanda basket
U need rock(make sure it is fairly neutral- not acidic or alkaline) to block the drainage hole in a pot so that the ugly hole do not have ugly roots sticking out. U can also broken
pots for that too.
U need big big 20 to 50 gallon plastic tank/ steel tank for sterilizing used pot.
U need ... there are so many things u need and can be found Free.

more importantly you need orchids to mount. sorry can't resist.
lately there are lots of tree cutting being done here, however, when i ask for some they
declined to give me, as they are selling it to those handycrafts/woodcarving shops.
well too bad.

Can you use cedar to mount orchids? I have lots of orchids coming and one dead cedar tree in my yard which needs to be removed. Anybody know if orchids are ok with cedar?
I am already saving some grape vine pieces (big old ones) which were cut out when another tree was removed (the grape is now growing back I love white grapes ).
Thanks, Dian
