(Re)Mounted my Den atroviolaceum type pygmy

It didn't seem to be getting enough water; the canes weren't getting very plump, so I stuffed it into this little log. It seems to like it; the canes are fuller and there's a new spike.

Beautiful. I wonder if that's what's wrong with mine since I seems to be drying up. Thanks for the tip. Maybe I need to re-pot mine too.

Solay, you have SO many orchids, maybe you should just give yours to, oh, I dunno, someone from Sunnyvale who shows up at your place! (I know which one you have sine I came this close to buying it myself at the SF Expo!)

Kidding aside, mine LOVES being very moist and getting almost as much light as Catts like. My log has holes in the sides and one end is open, and I didn't fill it with moss; just enough to hold the roots steady.

Thanks. I may have to put mine in a log too and see if it improves.

Sunnyvale. My aunt lives there. It is very sunny in Sunnyvale isn't it.

Awww, how cute! Mine is showing new growth but no signs of a spike. I have it potted in a bark blend, and under lights of about 1500 fc. I just set it up on an inverted pot to be closer to the lights.

Yours is outside, right? Catt light, hmm. I think a move is in order.

Not lately! Its been overcast and it even rained yesterday! I'm only a few miles from the coast where I am. I call it Scummyvale, but I spent my first 10 years in California in Mountain View ... which is about a mile away!
