Price of Pellets or LECA

How much roughly do you pay for these? I've just found the only place near me that carries them and not sure but they sound a little pricey.

if you think they are too expensive, try some websites that carry them. I only order from repotme.com....mostly because I live about half an hour away and can pick up, rather than ship. I believe I pay about $15 for a large bag of aliflor.

I use Hydroton and pay somewhere around $10-15 for 10L bags. I think a 50L bag, which is huge, is around $50. I am actually out and need to get more soon.

OK thanks, I guess $29 for 50L isn't so bad then. I don't have a clue how big 50L is but I guess it's big enough.

I think I paid about $30 for a 50 liter bag. I'm guessing that I have about 25-30 plants in Hydroton and I still have almost 1/2 a bag left. It seems pretty reasonable to me... especially since it doesn't break down like other organic potting mediums.

I bought a 2 pound bag of hydroton for $3.50 at a hydroponics store. If you have one near you, try there. Try winery grower specialty stores. I get mine at a place called the "Wine N Vine" in Muncie, IN.

Oh boy, maybe I should see if I can get a smaller bag, I think 50L is going to be waaay to much.

Sassismom-I am in the market for a sample of this too, but the smallest amount I can get is at repotme.com, so if you want, I will go in on some with you. I think the smallest amount we can get there is 2 scoops, which is some 10+ dollars. PM me if you want to do it.

Consider yourself warned, the 50 L bag is also pretty darned heavy! The best I could do was drag it out of the trunk of my car and walk in baby steps with it until I got it to a corner of my garage. If you lived closer, I would be more than happy to give you a pot full to try out!

weight is a big factor in buying this stuff. PrimeAgra from FirstRay weighs about 1 1/4 pound per liter. By the way, He has a very convenient starter/trial kit for about $25 plus postage that has a couple of pots, fertilizer and KLN. He also carries PrimeAgra in various quantities. He is located in southeast Pennsylvania to figure postage and has a postage calculator on his site before you pay.

The store I found the 50L bag in opened the bag and sold me a full grocery bag for $6. So I have plenty and it isn't so hard to store.

I pay less for hydroton leca than I did for bark mixes.

I am pretty much a S/H convert, I see so many advantages over my past methods for my situation.

I think the main argument over price has already been said, and that is that hydroton is recyclable, and within the realms of our lives non degradable, as long as proper cleaning of the substrate is done.

Something makes me feel like i'm helping the environment abit
