S/H with a Slc. Mem. Dorothy Worden?

While changing a light fixture today we had an accident knocking a Slc. Mem. Dorothy Worden x B. nodosa (given to me, don't have a clue what the flowers will be like) and it's pot broke. It wasn't in the best of shape but there is some new root growth and I'm trying to decide whether to mount this plant or try S/H with it. I'm going to post this on the mounting forum also to get some opinions that way. I cleaned out the dead roots and It's sitting on some wet gravel while I decide on what course to go with it.

As always, any ideas will be appreciated!

First of all, take it out of the wet gravel. It will not be able to get oxygen to the roots and the remaining roots may fall to rot. If it does have active root growth (green tips) then it would be a good time to go to S/H if that is what you want to do.

If you have any of the bark left from the previous pot, put it in a tupperware container temporarily while getting ready to transplant. Check this thread to see more info about the switch.

S/H method explained

I love S/H. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any more questions.

Thanks, Jay, I should have explained better, it's resting on top of the gravel in a tray that has gravel for humidity and surrounded by other orchids whlie I figure out what I'm going to do with it. I've read your tutorial several times. I just don't know much about Slc.'s and want to do what's best for this plant in particular at the moment. I most definately am going to try S/H coming up. I've got most of a 50L bag of Hydroton collecting dust. Are Slc., Blc., ect. good candidates for S/H?

I only have 3 from the Cattleya Alliance, and they all love the S/H. The best time to transplant them is during new root growth. If you are thinking about that, start preparing your hydroton by rinsing it very good and soaking it overnight.

Good luck and keep us updated.
