anyone grow Dendrobiums in SH whata abt dry period?

If so - what abt the dry period some are supposed to need in order to get them to flower again, how dry can you keep them in SH - does it work, I mean have you got them to flower again?
Oh I just read elswhere in the forum that the Phal. type Dendrobiums dont need such a dry period so I will just treat it pretty normal and just keep it a bit dryer in the winter. The noid I have is called "emma" and is a Dark wine colour, all the label said was Dendrobium Emma

Folks who grow plants than need a "winter rest" in semi-hydroponics seem to be successful using either of the following techniques:

1. Let it dry as you would in traditional culture.
2. Continue to water normally, but add absolutely no fertilizer or nutrient of any kind until new growth emerges in the spring.

I am no den expert, but I don't think your plant is one that needs such a winter rest, as it looks to be a bigibbum type, as you mentioned. It's certainly not Den Emma though.

I grow many dens and only one of them I have growing S/H and thats a nobile den. I water the heck out of it from late March early April until November and then all watering stops. Higher light, cooler temps but it doesn't see any water until spring. I've been growing this one in S/H for a few years now with no problems, I get a good blooming in summer and then a smaller onelate fall.

Yes, as Ray is saying, I don't think this den needs Winter rest, it's not a nobile type dendrobium. The other words, your den is evergreen, it's not going to loose leaves in Winter. Do you have a tag for it, or it's a NOID?
I have few dens (not the nobile type) growing in S/H. I usually let them dry, then water...pretty much the same thing year round... They are reliable bloomers for me....
My nobile type dens are in bark or Sphag, they are loosing their leaves right now...I am still trying to figure them out.......

Ray and orchidea are correct, this is not a den that takes a winter rest. It is a Phalaenanthe type dendrobium hybrid.

ok thanks for the advice, the label did say it was Den. emma but I expect supermarket labels are not that reliable.
I am just going to leave it in the pot it's in now until spring, I shall just keep it a bit on the dry side and no food till spring growth. When it starts to grow again I will change to SH method and LECA.
@ Orhcidea you say you have a few in SH, can I ask what are they growing in ?

Den Emma is in a whole different class of plants - tetragonum x (delicatum x kingianum)
