New to S/H

To be quite honest, this part of the forum was a section I always avoided. I pictured a bunch of science geeks with lots of expensive hydroponic equipment/ flasks, wearing white coats trying to grow orchids in a hermetically sealed off room.

Imagine my surprise when I found out how this method is not only inexpensive to get into, but it may just solve my watering problems, enable me to see exactly what is going on with my plants, and possibly greatly reduce or even eliminate certain pests and diseases as a result. The best part.....no more messy repotting!!

I have one good candidate for repotting in S/H. It is a phal currently in recovery in a bark mix.

I should be getting my order from FirstRays by the end of the week.

I notice that some of you have been doing S/H in glass containers, which I would really love to try at a later date if my initial S/H experiments work out. If you can post any special instructions for drilling holes in glass containers, that would be great.

If you have pests, you might need to call an Orkin pest exterminator to help keep your flowers pest free.
