This girl is a believer!

I have switched 11 of 2 dozen orchids so far into S/H. It has only been a week since I have repotted these 11 plants. Out of the 11, 9 have new growths which were not there before S/H. coincidence? I don't think so as I've had most of these orchids for some time. time to get my others repotted me thinks!
1- Epic. Rainbow Sherbert
2- Mixillaria Tenufloria
3- Slc. Miyuki Little King
4- Pot. Burana Beauty
these 4 like popped out of nowhere. I'm so excited.

Yay! I'm pretty happy with the few that I've put into s/h so far, also. The new growth on your plants looks great!

Hi Synda, I'm curious; do you have them in pots with reservoirs of water? Do you flush them with water additionally? If so, how often? I’ve just switched some of mine over and have seen good results with some but not all. Thanks, Lucy.

S/H method explained

Buttercup,

yes the pot has to have a reservoir and you need to flush them regularly. I do every other day since mine were just repotted a week ago. The longer the water sits, more likely it will become toxic with TDS or salts or bacteria...

Hi Lucy. I posted a couple pictures so you can see what I did. Some are just in plastic dixie cups of different sizes, and a few are in cute acrylic tumblers I found at Target. I used my Dremel to drill the holes in the cups. right now its getting pretty hot and humid in my area, so I've had to add water like every third day for a few. the others I've been able to hold off to the 4th day. I fill the pots to the very top while keeping my thumb over the holes. I let the water sit for a minute or two before letting it drain out and then putting the plants back in their places. I hope this helps you. I know so far I am thrilled with how my orchids have responded and as soon as I return from a vacation starting this weekend, I plan on repotting some others to S/H.
