Sharry Baby

In April 2009 I changed my Sharry Baby to hydroponics. I couldn't seem to give it enough water to keep it happy.

Today I noticed that it is growing a nice new root in the vase!! I guess it likes it!! Yay!!

Here is a pic of the root and the whole plant!

I put my two sharry baby's in S/H too about two months ago - so far so good - nothing dramatic yet, but at least they are no worse either!

I like the looks of it in the vase. Much nicer than plastic pots.LOL A bonus to a happy plant.

Except... isn't it supposed to have the drain/breath holes on the lower sides of the pot?

OK- Could someone explain to me about hydroponics. What it is and how it benefits the plant and is it good for all types of orchids? thanks

Mine is straight hydroponics not semi hydro. It does not have drainage holes. I use the Leca and keep about 1-2 inches of worm tea or water in the bottom and refill when it is low or out. I usually rinse out the vase (fill it up and dump out the water) at least once a month so it doesn't accumulate salts.

I have a General Hydroponics water garden, do you think this might work with orchids if I put it on a timer to run for a couple of hours a day?
