Going S/H crazy!

I have found that I love to water and water my orchids. Leaving them alone is not a possibility. Needless to say, my first few years I lost a lot of orchids. Then, I did not water them enough. They all shriveled and dried and died!!!
My only surviving orchids are on mounts and a couple I started in S/H last year. I had an ah ha! moment and went crazy.
I bought a 50 liter bag of hydroton and am doing everything hydro-rific!

I have no idea how to explain this. Ha ha~ Teaching is not a profession I would willing go into. However, this site has a great section just on this stuff and FirstRay (a member on this site) is the #1 source on this.
Basically, Hydroton (and other like it) keep a moist environment while allowing air circulation thus giving the plant nutrients and water as it needs whilst not drowning them - like I did.
You can water these babies again and again but still it will only hold as much as it can and nothing else. I love it!!! And I have enough to go hydro crazy~

Do a Google search for "semi-hydroponics", Lilia.
