and to think I was chastizing myself today for wanting to buy a second orchid, lol. Slowly, I told myself, slowly....Can't wait to build up a collection though. Are you housing these in a greenhouse or in your residence?

Yeah....like I said...I knew I had a lot...didn't know exactly how many. I stopped counting when I hit 100 and it was easy (in my mind) to not acknowledge my "problem". LOL!

I would say at least 40%...maybe upwards of 50% are after bloom sales, rescues sales and/or after show sales. For example...all but the seedling dens and about 4 others came from a clearance sale at our local conservatory when the orchid show ended....only paid $2/plant. I walked away from that place w/a huge bag full of dens. So many, many of them have been total bargains.

My huge cross has a lot to do with my having bought a lot in a short period of time (less than 2 years) and not being sure what I'm going to love best and what's going to love living w/me best. I admittedly have little patience so taking my time and pacing myself is not an option for me. I'm definitely not the test the waters type person. I'd rather dive in and find out right now what's going to work.

Zimsgirl...I don't have a g/h so they are outside in the summer and inside during the winter. They've taken over 2 rooms of our house...it's actually really pretty in the winter...it's like an atrium minus the windows in the ceiling. Right now...the space is empty and echo-y. Buying a second orchid...well...that's where it starts. LOL!!

Solay...During the summer, it doesn't seem like a lot of work. On Sundays there's a bit more to be done with the rotations and the soaking/fertilizing. In the winter...well it is a lot more time consuming when they are in the house. Most of my Sunday is used up on Orchids. I'm planning on some changes for the orchid area this winter that will hopefully make things a bit easier. Having a g/h would be the ideal solution but it's not something we want to add to this property. It'll have to wait until we move. All in all....the orchids and all the tending that goes along with them is my stress-reliever...I work out of my home (my own business + a p/t job) so I can do a little bit here and a little bit there all day long...in between work and during down time.

When I mentioned in another thread that I was at max-capacity (or whatever I said) I wasn't kidding. Now...because there is a big sale coming up at our conservatory in the fall and I'm at a place where I am leaning more towards certain plants...I'm currently in the process of considering letting go of some on this list (especially some of the dupes) to free up space for others I like more. I'm having trouble with the thought but it might be the only way to accommodate some other plants. It's either that or God forbid...not add anymore of my favs....YIKES!

OK...so that was loooooong but...oh well. Now you all know...I truly do have a problem. LOL!!

I kept putting it off too but I had an unusually empty schedule onTuesday so I decided it was time to bite the bullet and get it done. I do feel really good now that it's completed. Also...it'll be really helpful because I've printed it off (tiny font) to carry in my purse so when I'm out and about I won't purchase anymore accidental duplicates.

PhalPal...just do it! LOL!!
