My project Enc. is doing something!

Finally, after sitting there looking cute for weeks, there's new growth starting! It's about time! It's the itty bitty thing at the bottom of the pseudobulb!

That is the way they start and usually grow rather fast from that point. Almost every new growth will flower next April-May.

They will flower next spring and have a great fragrance but what they will look like in three years ----

I have a number of 6 and 8 inch pots of encyclia, not this one, that are a knockout. Encyclia grow to specimum plants easily.

I mounted mine. (Log in a Pot)..and got a quick reaction...maybe it was the lack of water.

Anyway, this plant might be way to big for my lil branch...lol oh oh.

Wow!!! The original pseudo stayed nice and plump. What do you do for it again? When I mounted mine, the original psbulb shriveled a bit, but the roots and growth is kicking butt.

I have mine in Schultz mix, under T-12 gro-lights. I water with a spray bottle pretty much every day. The original bulb only started shriveling once when I was away for a few days and it didn't get as much to drink as usual. She plumped back up when I got to her. She seems to be a thirsty girl!

Looks good. I have an Encyclia Orchid Jungle that is just recovering from nearly being killed over the summer. it has grown roots like crazy and is starting a new growth like yours.

I have been growing these for three years struggling to write that long name on the tags. Now I find the registered name is Encyclia Nursery Rhyme - so easy.

Jerry, just to clarify, the orchid that you sent out for our project is called Enc. Nursery Rhyme? For some reason, I had thought that it was Enc. Atronecium, which RHS says is a parent of Nursery Rhyme. Was I just wrong, and was calling my little orchid by it's mum's name?

From the looks of these pics you all are doing a FANTASTIC job with these Encyclias! They look so fat and happy! Well done all of you. I now gaze into my crystal ball and what do I see?

Erika~ Our Encyclias are Enc. atronecium 'Mother's Day' x Enc. cordigera 'Chocolate Violets'. So this will equal Enc. Nursery Rhyme.

Oh Jerry you are so so right! It is so much faster and easier to type/write out.

It was so exciting to see this thread brought up again!! My Enc. Atronecium 'Mother's Day' x Enc. cordigera 'Chocolate Violets' is doing well! It has a long way to go to bloom, but I have had a great time with this little honey!!

Mine is doing great too! Since I got it in the mail it has since had two new growths and both are plumping up! It's neat to see the psuedobulb plumping and developing!
