Aspasia Bloom

These buds grow extremely fast. I'll take more pics when it's fully opened.

EEEEEEE! Nice job! Mine are still growing, but slower. Low humidity and all...-It's really been cool here lately also. They're still progressing, however!
That is a sweet bloom!

Nice bloom Sandra. The aspasia is a really nice species and puts on quite a show when it clumps up. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

wow! It reminds me of a helcia sanguinolenta. How exciting! I can't grow helcia in my conditions. I have to look at your conditions...I am off on this one, kink in the culture... This is a really interesting project

Beautiful job!

Really pretty, Sandra! Mine are still in bud, getting bigger, but moving MUCH slower than yours! Our house is dry right now- We had a frost last night!

Wow! Since I only had 3 leads on my plant, the most I can have is 6 blooms. I can see 4 buds- they're still getting bigger......

Pretty. I like it. I wish something would bloom for me. Geeeee, I think I might have a long wait. Until then, I will have to be content looking at all your beautiful pics. of blooms.

Very pretty. Still no buds on mine, but I might have not have been paying enough attention. I think I've let it go too long between waterings. With you inspiration that's changing.

another update

8 blooms (some hiding), 4 more buds, and 2 buds struggling to make their way. I think this may have to do with the light they were receiving...less than the others though, what do I know?

2 days later.....

These 2 are still struggling. I'm not sure why this has happened, if it's just 'one of those things' or, something that was caused by the way I've been growing the plant. I suspect this is a light issue but don't know. It's now receiving a little more light.

Mine are also not performing as anticipated and I also think it's light...or heat... or a combo. Cultural indications say mid-upper 70's. I've been running 80º+. Heat sensitive?

I haven't had the time to really analyse yet but I think your on the right track. These were not as easy as I expected

Aspasia lunata easily tolerates temperatures in the 80s. When temps get into the mid/upper 90s, it will show signs of stress.

I keep mine outdoors at this time of year. With extended periods of mid-90s, I have noticed some stress.

I'm being a "nice guy" this year. I brought it indoors when the temp exceeded 92°F yesterday. It will go back outside on Tuesday! This ~ 100° doesn't cut it!

My fans, my Aspasia and I remain indoors today!

Mine has 4 blooms. and 2 more buds about to open. The first bloom is turning goldish brown-it's about to bite the dust. It's been in the 80's in the house the last few days and I put a fan on them. It's been in the 90's outside! Some summers, we never see 90, and it's not even summer yet!
