Since many of them are small, it might be a while! I do have some that are producing some healthy new growth, so hopefully I'll have some bloom from a couple in a few months. We'll see!

Great list! I see you have Bletilla striata... Do you keep them in pots or do you have them in the ground? I just received mine and I'm scared to plant them in the ground...

kazjak- I have some seedlings of Bletilla striata- VERY tiny! It will be a long time before I make any decision on where to plant them! I know of a lot of people that grow them outside- but they're a lot further south than I. Check out my thread on my Ellen seeds update.

Patticake I spoke with a fellow at the Toronto orchid show yesterday. He had the Bletilla seeds in a pot and I asked him how to plant he said just put them in the garden and let them go they will come back every year. so I thought I would try a small pot first and only experiment with a small amount of seeds first. This way if this method doesn't work then I still have more to try a different way.

I think you are an addict! I don't know much yet about all the different types of orchids but looks like you might of cover most of them.
Ya, I could only afford tiny seedling too and will have to be very very very patient.

Solay,
The one BIG section of orchids that I don't have, is Cymbidiums!!! That's what you have the most of! I don't think I could grow them here... I love your posts because I can "grow" Cyms through you!!!! Thanks for your photos, etc.!

Hey, Jenny!

My Zygo is my newest addition! It's a seedling from a cross of Z. San Dieguito 'Miki' x Z. Imagination 'Sparkles'. I got it off E-bay from Larry's orchids. (NOT to be confused with our Jerry!!!)
I've had pretty good luck with him in the past, and the price was really inexpensive, so I went for it! The plant arrived, much bigger than I expected, and quite squashed!!! The 20" leaves that I imagine were once quite lovely, were smushed into a wad! I'm taking care of it, and hope it will be o.k. down the road. Most of the damage is permanent, but some of the leaves are perking back up! I'll keep you posted.

WOW! Patticake, that is a very nice "little bit of everything" list. Although, since Den. covers ~ 1200 species you might be a little "thin" there. (Shameless plug for ONE of my "favorite" groups.) You know we want pictures and updates.

I found that the zygo leaves are very fragile. I have to be very careful with mines when I move them around; the leaves can be very big and if by accident I knocked them against (gently)the door, the leaves can be easily damage. This is the downside for me with the zygo.

But nice list, I wonder how long will be your list next year at the same period
