| My project Encyclia update. 5/09
My Enc.Nursery Rhyme ( Atronecium 'Mother's Day' x Enc. cordigera 'Chocolate Violets') Is spiking! It's been sitting like this for about 2 weeks, now. I sure hope it decides to actually bloom!  The leaves are green. They look kind of sick in the picture, because I had an incandescent bulb shining on the plant.

Oooh lucky you! Can't wait to see it progress. And I LOVE the pseudobulbs on these guys. Mine are rock hard and shiny just like yours---and just the same as when Jerry sent it! Sturdy little plant, I think.  |

It looks great Patti!!! I can't wait ot see the flowers. I had an Enc. cordigera along time ago and it was one of my fav encyclias.

Well, if yours is like my first encyclia... I actually bought it in spike, and it STILL took forever to actually bloom...but when it finally did it was a thing of beauty and wonder. Fragrant, gorgeous, and it lasted nearly as long as flowers as it did in spike. Won me over for buying more encyclias, that's for sure! And the reason I bought it in the first place was that I was fascinated with the pbulb...it was hard and shiny and granny apple green and round and as big as a plum. Still one of my favs... Can't wait to finally see your blooms! I'll check back in a couple of months...

Thanks for posting your pic of the spike Patti. I've never grown one of these before and when I saw some strange growth, I couldn't figure out if they were spikes or growths. Turns out they're new growths. I'll be excited to see the flowers Keep posting the progress.
