In the order I aquired them... I may need help with the grammar that goes along with the names...

1. Phal NoID
2. Encyclia rufa - rufous butterfly orchid
3. Encyclia rufa - rufous butterfly orchid - a division from #2
4. BLC. Hawaii Stars
5. Cattleya NoID

I think I need more orchids?

sounds like you're off to a great start! Encyclia rufa is an unusual "first orchid". I usually only see it in Encyclia fanatic's collections. Interesting choice. I cantell it will be interesting seeing your plants as you post.

Haha...I picked it up at Lowe's when I got the Catt and the Hawaii Stars. It and the Hawaii Stars were the only ones in the orchid section that were really different from the rest of the selection. I may be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that the Hawaii Stars is a kind of Catt. I just thought the image on the labels (I know it may not be true to the actual plant) of both were so interesting that I wanted to see what came of them. I had no idea it was an unusual first orchid.

Yes that's what i thought. Hmm but i'm sure getting a few smaller ones will not affect the whole process of moving. It's better to pack them nicely in a box for transportation & any loose space requires filling up. So to fill the box up nice & snugly, just buy a little more.

Yes Benetay...that's what I was thinking...I have to be sure to have enough orchids to fill the box so they don't go falling over or rolling around... I might need one or ten more...

Congrats on the new addition. You are going to really like it. I have that one, and it looks nice and pure.

I will also be moving within the city, soon. But can you imagine, all these shows coming up, how is it possible to not buy??? Can deal with packing later, maybe.
