I think the cross finally took

Here is a picture of a pod on my Paph. primulinum. I pollinated it with Paph. lowii. This cross is Paph. Mamie Wilson, which is usually crossed with lowii being the pod parent.

I thought it would be interesting to see what could change by doing it the other way. I pollinated this several weeks ago not thinking it would take because the last several attempts did not. This pod has stayed on through the last 4 blooms and has swelled a little. My understanding is that Paph pods do not swell like Catts do.

I will keep an eye on this and probably ship it to a flasking service. I do not have the room for another flask right now due to the Fdk. After Dark seedlings still being so young. I know it will be a while before the flask is ready and even longer until they are ready for deflask. If there are a lot of viable seeds then I will offer flasks to members of the forum if you just pay the flasking/replating costs to the flasker for your flask. I don't want make money on this, just share some low cost flasks to individuals to try that normally wouldn't because they are afraid of cost/survival rate. I will keep you updated if they further develop.

How long 'til maturity?

Jenny, that is a great question since I didn't write down the date of when it was pollinated. I had 3 failed attempts already, and this was the last of the saved pollen from my Paph. lowii, so I didn't write it down thinking it wouldn't take again. I will just check it frequently so that I can send it off when it is ready. Right now it is only a 4-8 weeks old (guessing). I will try to calculate how old it is by how many flowers back it is.

Either way, if it works there should be an old Paph cross to share on the forum.

Congratulations! According to a chart that one of my flaskers sent me, Paph pods take about 10 months. The longest on the chart. I made a cross a few months back, and when the pod didn't swell, I figured it was a dud. Now I know better. Thanks for that info.
I'm really excited for you! It will be interesting to see any differences in the reverse cross.
