Wilting

About 3 weeks ago i bought 2 orchid flasks in singapore airport and brought them back home with me to the UK where they've lived on my window sill upstairs ever since. They aren't big enough to take out yet but some of the leaves on both of them have turned brown. Is it normal?

Take care that they're not getting too hot. Hearing that you've kept them on a windowsill concerns me a little. Imaging a greenhouse with no ventilation, and no protection from the sun, that's essentially what a flask is. It's not uncommon for a leaf in the flask to occasionally die off, but I'd take the flasks out of the window.

I agree totally with Kevin.

The glass bottle acts like a magnifying glass increasing the heat. Certain spots in the bottle will be under the magnifying glass and burn even when the total temp does not get high.

It is the same problem when you leave plants in a closed car.

oh dear, those flask have really small plant. You might have introduce sunlight too quickly.

kmarch, jerrymeola, and digitalgate are 3 of our top experts here! I would listen to them. Are the brown leaves on the bottom of the plantlets, or all-over?
