Ghost visited me today.

I only know one so far. Polyrrhiza lindenii. Dare not wander into other ghost area yet. As this is already challenging for newbie like me.

Are you keeping them all on the same slab as a "community pot" for now & seperate them later or are you going to them them grow up together?

How cool is that?!! Very interesting!! I just bought a Chiloschista and am super excited over my one little teeny one...you must be ecstatic over all those little ones.

Out of curiosity...when the time comes...if you choose to separate them...how will you do it? Will you cut them apart or remove from the tree fern?

BTW -- some friends were over this past weekend and they thought my little one on it's mount was some sort of 'junk' that I hadn't yet thrown out. LOL!

I suppose after a while, the orchid will stick to the fern bark. If i were to "repot" it. I will break the fern bark so that it wouldn't take too much time to reestablish itself.

Hmm, sounds like your friends are not orchid addicts yet - I would get working on that so you can trade keikis, divisions, etc.

Cindy, they looks better when they flowers. I breed fishes before so worm..... not much of horror factor to me hahahahaa.

They like as close to 100% humidity as possible. (without being in water) Oak Hill Gardens recommends they be where there is NO air movement. No fans, etc. as with other orchids. Being in an enclosed area such as a terrarium is good. Good Luck!

Trust me...I've tried conversion w/many of my friends unfortunately I'm not making any headway. They simply don't want the work. I've always been a plant freak...none of my friends are. They come to my house to enjoy things then go back to their lack-luster plant-less lives (LOL). I have only 2 orchid friends...patlee (geek) and another lady whose actually partially responsible for my orchid addiction. I should say....only have 2 *local* orchid friends..after all I have all of you guys. :-)

Good point about breaking them apart mark...yeah, I'm betting trying to remove them would damage the roots a great deal. Keep us posted on their progress...these little guys are so interesting and I can't wait to see yours grow up.

Since they are native here, I get a lot of discussion about them.

They have a very bad habit of not blooming for years. We recently had a big event when they bloomed wild at the Audubon sanctuary right near the walking path. Bad news was since people walk past that point every day for the last 15 years, it made everyone realize it had been at least 15 years without blooming for a mature plant.

I just learn a new trick. I cover the fernbark with newspaper and let the newspaper wickup the water to maintain high humidity. Will slowly introduce more light for it to makes its own food.

don't be haste in our weather. Let them acclimatise to our weather then you wick newspaper. My nursery area no body take care. It bloom. Dry spell hit , it dried up and die. I am talking about the American ghost not the Asian type. I have seen the bloom myself.
Most important of all our HDB environment breed lots of fungus. So Let them dry is not
a bad thing also. Plus 10 days of raining will soak them with ample water. The watering
regiment should be my opinion same as pigeon orchid. The roots is the storage tank of
water. Dont let the root shrivel.

My area is different. It will dry it up in hours.
