| Want To Try DeFlasking Paphs and Phals
Hello my fellow orchid geeks,
I would like to try my hand at deflasking. I think I will like to try both phals and paphs. I've purchased mix for paph seedlings and planned on using sphag for the phals. Based on the info I've read, I know they need humidity. My question is, when the phals and paphs come out of the flask, do they need the same amount of humidity? Also, while looking to purchase flask, some sellers, say they will open and spray fungicide, is this advisable? And if they open, wouldn't it compromise the seedling? I was going to get a flask of paphs species from Troy but because they said they would do that, and I wasn't sure, I had to let it go. .
I ordered a flask of phal. Brother Sara Gold from Orchids by Hausermanns. Was told they were tiny and would need a couple more months in the flask, however cause the climate is warmer here, maybe less time. Was advised to keep my eye on the agar and leave seedlings in flask as long as they can stay until there was no more agar.
So far, my plan was to put then in small individual pots, put them in a rack and place them in clear plastic bins, with gravel and water for humidity. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated
