just deflasked

They were just deflasked and sent to me bare root from Austria. I am excited to see them grow one day. Here's a couple of shots. The order had these seedlings:

Cymbidium suavissimum
Dendrobium chrysotoxum var. oculatum
Prosthechea vespa
Sedirea japonica
Papilionanthe Miss Joaquim (St. Lucia)
Cattleya walkeriana var. alba "Suwada"

:-)
I too got this week a batch of Sedirea japonica from Austria :-) Mine are bottled in barely damp sphagnum moss (much drier than yours but under almost 100% humidity). Would be interesting to see how these two batches develop :-) as we seem to grow them very differently.
As the temperatures in my house during the nights are too cool for seedlings I grow them under lights with some extra heat. Day temps around 26 C, night temps around 20 C.

THey seemed very tiny to me. I had one smaller than my smallest finger nail and even rootless :-( but they made it up by sending me extra seedlings.

fortunately the temperatures you mention are the average in the house. I posted this on another thread, we had cold in October but November is like spring. I have them in 70% humidity but well damp however the pot is so tiny that it dries out after a day.

Hello Stelios.
how develop your seedlings? I got the Sedirea japonica and despite the seedlings were so small, I even had one without roots (!) they still are alive. Most of them had roots that were getting loose from the stem and only hanging on by a thin string (inner root, missing velamen). I got them that way. Most even had a black base which I doubt was from charcoal. All of them are putting out new roots and show some leaf growth.
After a week a white fuzzy fungus developed on the sphagnum. I gave them a bath in a desinfectant and after that they were fine, m made sure I increased ventilation too. I ordered 5 seedlings but got 10, maybe because the quality wasn't very impressive? However, they still look good...
