Sort of Looking for ....

I am looking into getting a flask of Phalaenopsis Bellini. I found on and it was $95. Not sure if that is a good price or not. Does anyone have a place where they purchase Flasks of orchids? Thanks

Phalaenopsis bellina (note spelling and capitalization) is one that has been line-bread quite a bit. It would be helpful to know if the flask is of awarded parents and how many seedlings are in the flask. Depending on these factors, $95 could be cheap or outrageously expensive.

Kevin $95 for a flask is about the norm right now. Some flasks for the more unusual, rare, awarded, are going $150 and above.

Lethal I know Digi thinks you can get bloom in six months on a bellina but unless the flask you receive has plants already in bud, it would be highly unlikely you could achieve that time table.

It is very rewarding to raise flasklings to bloom and you would have fun trying, just be aware it might take longer than six months.

That's what I was wondering Brooke, where $95 was on the range of cheap to expensive. It's interesting! These guys are more expensive than a lot of paphs. Thanks Brooke!

Phal (bellina X Grosbeak 'Peter Lin')
[F9-9f] $95.00

Phal (bellina X Grosbeak 'Peter Lin')

We made this hybrid to have more of fragrant colorful Phal bellina like flowers. Pod parent is a Phal bellina originated from Joseph Wu – from ‘Joy’ and ‘Ponkan’. It has a lot of green color and flower is large. Pollen parent Phal Grosbeak ‘Peter Lin’ originated from Zuma Canyon, where the Phal George Vasquez used is George Vasquez ' Green Meadow' AM/AOS that is like a superb Phal bellina.

It is a 500ml Flask with 20+ seedlings. If you want to see the color combo, PM me and I will give you the link. I didn't know if we could put links like that on here. I don't want to get in trouble

Waiting for almost a year for a Catt and my Den...I guess I could handle this

Lethal Grosbeak is a wonderful hybrid and bred to bellina, you could get some really nice hybrids. With violacea in there multiple times and some lueddemaniana for good measure, they should have great fragrance. I've gotten all of my Phal. flasks from Peter and they have all done well.

Have fun growing them.

Kevin I think $75 is the cheapest Phal. flask I've ever seen and the Paph. flasks I saw at the MOAC were V-E-R-Y expensive. You would know the vendor/hybridizer but I am having a senior moment

The Lyc. flasks I've looked at have been $150 but they were out of outstanding parents.
