How I know it's time...

to sow seed?
Today is three months since the pod started to form. I crossed two phal noids (I know, but it's just for fun and learning). I read somewhere that phalaenopsis seed pod needs 3-4 months to mature. Since I'm not experienced at this, I think it's best for me not to wait for the pod to open, but to open it myself. I wanted to wait for another month, but I think it started to yellow, so I hope someone will help me with this.

First two images were taken today, and just to show you difference in color, third one, taken a month ago.

Hi.
I was talking to my orchid nursery mate who does Phallies.
I was going to do a few crosses for fun. He said about 6 months or until the pod is nice and fat.
As I have not seeded phallies I can not comment on the size of the pod.
Normally it should be nice and rounded fat looking.
Perhaps one of the professional growers may comment on this.
I can get top quality Phallie crosses flasks cheep so I do not bother.
They can do the work and quality is tops
Best of luck
Ron

I guess you have to wait until it reaches the fourth month. The pod will open normally when it's the right time.It takes time but worth to see them bloom.
