Doodlekitty's Replates...Help!!!!

Sorry to start a 911 thread, but I was worried if I posted this question and pics in the other thread, it would get buried.

I think I have a problem. Can the experts here please take a look at my babies and give me advice. The orchids look great, but i'm beginning to see a brownish/reddish areas around the roots. It was difficult to get a good shot, so I'm attaching several pics.

I've never seen dens in flask, but my Paphs in flask had brown on the roots- normally. They still look good to me, but I'm a novice when it comes to flasking...

Urgh...... contamination.. Pray and wait that they don't turn black. But sometime i do see this in my flask. Dendrobium does not seem to mind.

I've had flasks where the agar was brownish but the plants came out healthy. Do keep an eye on it but I would be surprised if it was serious.

Thanks everyone...I feel a little better now. So when you say "keep your eye on it" what do I do if it gets worse? Replate again?

Hi.
In the second photos it show some redish colour , 3 and 4 are ok.
I would not worry to much. on photo 3 there seems to one root that stopped growing and looks brownish.
Just keep an eye on it. the worst problem if you get a soft wet grey mold growing over the plants. That is bad.
I would most likely not replate them as that would mean sterilizing all the plants before replanting to get rid of suspect fungis

best of luck with the project
Ron

now you got another problem. How are you going to raise the seedling? It is not easy.

Oh Maaaaaannnnnnnnnnn you just burst my bubble

Don't I have several months before I cross that bridge????

Last year I bought a flask and experimented with raising the seedlings so I do have a little experience....a lot of them died but I have about 20 that are doing well. However, you're RIGHT...it isn't easy. I have literally "babied them" them for almost 1 year. I'm definitely open for suggestions, etc.

it ok , you learn. Don't place to high hope on the first few batch of seedling. I kill my Aranda , two compost of mini catt, and who know what else...before i get the hang of it. You need a light meter to take the guess work out. Your mini Dendro look, it is almost ready to deflask. Once you see one leaf turn yellowish in the whole flask. You can deflask whenever you got the time.

Very impressive work. I don't think we have too many members that have flasked their own pods. I am so glad that you are sharing this process with us.

Thank you!! I must admit though, the circumstances that led to my having the time to do this is not good.. I was laid off in Nov and STILL haven't found a job.
