Watering a brassidium (oncidium X Brassia)

I picked up a very nice 'chid from a local nursery, marked as 'brsdm. Golden Gamine 'White Knight''. the tag w/out the botanical name said to "water when the top is dry." But this label also said that the plant was just a oncidium so I don't know how well to trust it.

So should I let the plant dry out deeply, or just to the first knuckle?

I would try to maintain "moist" and make sure there is good ventilation around the roots. If you waver on the "moist" make it on the dry side.

I agree with Louis. A well draining mix, but moist. Check this link:

I water mine with a spray bottle on the surface.
